Gere Attila "Kopar" 2007

Add Your Review

Beautiful garnet red color in the glass and a wonderfully complex bouquet. Floral elements of leather and spice add to the black cherry fruit on the nose. Black cherry flavours follow on the palate as well as currant and blackberry, balanced by subtle minerality, pleasant acidity, and ripe, smooth tannins and rounding out to a long, lingering, dark chocolate finish.

Attila Gere's great-grandmother lived in Villány, and her husband was the local cooper. Along this line, the Gere family had quite a few members who were affiliated with wine production, starting from as many as seven generations back in time. Attila Gere first became interested in winemaking in 1978, through his father-in-law. Tasting his authentic home-made wines, Gere started to realize the great potential of the red wines of the Villány region. Winemaking is a family tradition on this line as well, what is more, today, the younger generation is also an integral part of the everyday life of the winery. The Gere family believes in the importance of viticulture and winemaking being passed on to sons and daughters, thereby re-creating the noble Hungarian tradition of the lasting family business.
