From the former winemaker at Cloudy Bay, an excellent first vintage. Rich and full, with layers of ripe tropical fruits, nicely balanced by plenty of classic Marlborough acidity and a lingering finish. An impressive wine. - John Wilson, The Irish Times
Packed with pungent, ripe, pithy, intense fruit. A benchmark. 5 Stars, Rosemary George, DECANTER MAGAZINE (UK)
Its stylish and restrained with notes of coriander, grapefruit and lemongrass and a crisp, tangy minerality that wouldnt look out of place in Sancerre.
93 Points, Tim Atkin, TIMATKIN.COM
Vivid and citrussy with a lovely mineral streak, it's every bit as good as his first creation. Fiona Beckett, THE GUARDIAN (UK)
This is my highest scoring NZ sauvignon of the year...it is a dreamboat, with awesome aromatics and a never-ending finish.
Matthew Jukes, DAILY MAIL WEEKEND (UK)
Greywacke was created in 2009 by Kevin Judd, chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay from its inception for 25 years and instrumental in the international recognition which Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc enjoys now. The name 'Greywacke' was adopted by Kevin for his first Marlborough vineyard located in Rapaura in recognition of the high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard, a sedimentary rock which is widely found in Marlborough. Kevin Judd is also New Zealandís finest wine photographer and has recently published 'The Landscape of New Zealand Wine,' a large format, hardback book showcasing the best of his vineyard photography from throughout the countryís wine regions.
