"This is a gorgeous leftfield pink Moscato wine from a joyously wayward winery, Innocent Bystander, in Australia's Victoria province. It is lusciously off-dry, though not a sweet dessert wine. Frizzante in character, it will be a truculent fizz of bubbles in the glass (hence the need for a crown cap). You will need a bottle opener to sample this energetic and engaging wine. Chilled cool but not freezing, it bursts with high luscious strawberry and raspberry notes, snappy, crisp and even edgy on the palate, with a touch of a boiled sweet. Then a short, clean, citric finish. A guilty, spring pleasure, if the sun bursts through.

"Innocent Bystanders playful take on Moscato dAsti has agorgeous floral-edged, talcum powder nose, with a touch of icing sugar and strawberry fruit. That strawberry character continues on the palate, which is off-dry and delicious, with the faintest sparkle giving just a cushion of mousse into a long, refined finish. What fun." - www.thewinegang.com, Aug 2009
Founded in 2004 by Phil Sexton, Innocent Bystander is a Yarra Valley based estate producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay alongside several other emerging varietals and blends. Located in Healesville, the winery is an exercise in function over form, much like the strongly expressed views of its owners and winemaking team: 'Make great wine for drinking and enjoying; not crowing over.' The fruit for the Innocent Bystander wines is sourced from vineyards in the Yarra Valley as well as selected vineyards throughout Victoria.
