Feudo Arancio Néro d'Avola 2010

Add Your Review

One of Sicily's best known red wines. A zesty, brash, cherry-scented wine with bold fruit flavours paired with more subdued earthy and spicy notes that keep the wine solidly grounded. It’s full bodied and undeniably ripe and concentrated with solid warm smooth tannins on the finish. It pairs well with risotto, baked pasta, red meats, game, lamb and seasoned cheeses.

Prince of the enological re-birth of Sicily, the Nero d’Avola is a very important native varietal. Initially found in Siracusa, it is now found in all of the wine-making areas of the island.

Arancio is a very large 650-hectare estate owned by the Mezzacorona winery in
Alto-Adige, in the far north of Italy. The winery is three kilometres from the eastern seashore, giving the wines an attractive lightness. A relatively new venture, this winery shows great promise. The range which includes both local and international varieties, are very well-made, and reasonably priced, too.
