Bortolomiol "Filanda" Pinot Noir Rosé

Add Your Review

This wine is made using Pinot Nero grapes from the Oltrepò Pavese area in northwest Italy. After careful maturation the wine develops a lovely pink colour, and a delicate flavour. In the mouth it is the wine’s freshness and body as well as its notable persistent fragrant flavour which are most evident. A rich fish soup with tomatoes is a worthy accompaniment, as is a tasty onion and cheese soup. Spicy foods go particularly well with this Rosé as they bring out its exotic character. 100% Pinot Noir, an excellent substitute for Pink Champagne as an aperitif.

The wine estate dates back to the mid 18th Century when Bartolomeo Bortolomiol started to grow grapes on the hillsides of Valdobbiadene. He passed on his passion to his son Giuliano who enrolled at the prestigious Conegliano Wine School. After the Second World War, the sight of the abandoned vines led to Giulano’s desire to bring them back to life and make Prosecco become a prestigious sparkling wine. As a master of the Martinotti-Charmat method and great experimenter, he eventually created the first Prosecco Brut in 1960.

Giuliano Bortolomiol made his first rosé in the early 1970s. Today his daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana together with their mother Ottavia present a wonderful sparkling rosé, the Filanda Rosé. They have decided to dedicate this wine to the women who worked in the Valdobbiadene silk mills, women who with their hard work contributed so greatly to the development of the area. A homage from women to women, proudly pink with a splendid mousse.

From their sense of responsibility as a leading producer of Prosecco Superiore and also fruit of a project for the creation of sustainable agriculture, Bortolomiol is experimenting with a new approach to growing – organic agriculture – in their own vineyards in the heart of Valdobbiadene. This is because they understand that the land must be protected so as to be passed on to future generations in the best possible health.
